Sahih Hadith Regarding distribution of Sacrificial Meat

Ali bin Abi Talib said :

The Messenger of Allah PBUH commanded me to take charge of (his) sacrificial camels and to distribute the skins and saddle clothes (after sacrifice) as sadaqah. He commanded me not to give anything from it to the butcher. He said we used to give it (the wages) to the butcher ourselves. [Sunan Abi Dawood 1769]

Hadith no.257

Narrated `Ali bin Abi Talib:

The Prophet Muhammad PBUH ordered me to supervise the (slaughtering) of Budn (Hadi camel) and to distribute their meat, skins and covering sheets in charity and not to give anything (of their bodies) to the butcher as wages for slaughtering. [Sahih al-Bukhari 1717]

Hadith no.258

Hadith Regarding Virtues of first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah

Ibn Abbas reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No good deeds are better than what is done in these first ten days of Dhul Hijjah.” Some companions of the Prophet said, “Not even jihad in the way of Allah?” The Prophet said, “Not even jihad in the way of Allah, except for a man who goes out with his life and wealth at risk and he returns with nothing.” [Sahih al-Bukhari 969]

Sahih Hadith Regarding Virtues of first Ten days of Dhul Hijjah and the Day of Arafah(9th of Dhul Hijjah)

Jabir reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No days are better to Allah than the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.” A man said, “O Messenger of Allah, are they better or time spent waging jihad in the way of Allah?” The Prophet said, “They are better than time spent waging jihad in the way of Allah. No day is better to Allah than the day of Arafat. Allah descends to the lowest heaven and He boasts to the inhabitants of the heavens about the inhabitants of the earth, saying: Look at My servants, appearing disheveled and dusty! They came from every mountain pass hoping for My mercy. They do not see My punishment, yet they do not see that on no day are more saved from Hellfire than the day of Arafat.” [Sahih ibn-Hibban 3853]

Hadith regarding slaughtering an animal with a sharp knife to let it die comfortably

Shaddid bin Aus said:

Two are the things which I remember Allah's Messenger PBUH having said: Verily Allah has enjoined goodness to everything; so when you kill, kill in a good way and when you slaughter, slaughter in a good way. So every one of you should sharpen his knife, and let the slaughtered animal die comfortably. [Sahih Muslim 1955a]

Hadith no.261

Sahih Hadith Regarding Reciting Allah's name before slaughtering an Animal

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

"The Messenger of Allah PBUH slaughtered two horned male sheep which were mostly white. He slaughtered them with his hand and mentioned Allah's Name, and he said 'Allahu Akbar', and put his foot on their side." [Jami al-Tirmidhi 1494]

Hadith regarding Virtues of the Day of Arafah

A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported Allah's Messenger PBUH as saying:

There is no day when God sets free more servants from Hell than the Day of 'Arafa. He draws near, then praises them to the angels, saying: What do these want? [Sahih Muslim 1348]

Message for the Ummah

Many congratulations to all the Muslims living around the world for the upcoming festival of Eid-al-Adha. May Allah accept the sacrifice of your Animal that you will do on this Eid. Eid-al-Adha doesn't mean to only sacrifice animals and eat tasty meals. It teaches us many lessons like feelings of sacrifice, humility, brotherhood, compassion and mercy etc for others. This Eid makes us realize to sacrifice our favourite things such as our life, property, wealth, etc, for the sake of Allah. Allah says in the Quran that He does not care for our flesh, but He sees our intention, whether a person is doing this act for showing off or for the pleasure of God. The passion with which we sacrifice our animals for the sake of Allah should be present in us not only on Eid-al-Adha but for the rest of the  year as well. On the occasion of this Eid, do not forget the Palestinians and all those Muslims who are being oppressed. Pray for them and if you can send them charity then do this as well while also putting pressure on the leaders of the Ummah to do something for our brothers suffering in Palestine and in other places as well.

Sahih Hadith regarding Sacrifice of Animals done on Eid-al-Adha and Hadith regarding things to do on the day of Arafah

In this blog, I have written Sahih Hadith regarding the sacrifice of animals done on Eid-al-Adha and Hadith regarding things to do on the day of Arafah.

 Hadith no.1

The Prophet SAW said (on the day of Eidal-Adha), "The first thing we will do on this day of ours, is to offer the (`Eid) prayer and then return to slaughter the sacrifice. Whoever does so, he acted according to our Sunna (tradition), and whoever slaughtered (the sacrifice) before the prayer, what he offered was just meat he presented to his family, and that will not be considered as Nusak (sacrifice)." (On hearing that) Abu Burda bin Niyar got up, for he had slaughtered the sacrifice before the prayer and said, "I have got a six month old ram" The Prophet SAW said, 'Slaughter it (as a sacrifice), but it will not be sufficient for anyone else (as a sacrifice after you). Al-Bara' added: The Prophet SAW said, "Whoever slaughtered (the sacrifice) after the prayer, he slaughtered it at the right time and followed the tradition of the Muslims

[Sahih Bukhari 5545]

Hadith no.2

"Sacrifice only a grown-up animal, unless it is difficult for you, in which case sacrifice a ram (of even less than a year, but more than six months' age)." [Sahih Muslim 1963]

Hadith no.3

“I heard ‘Ubaid bin Fairuz say: ‘I said to Bara’ bin ‘Azib: “Tell us of the sacrificial animals that the Messenger of Allah SAW disliked or forbade.” He said: “Allah’s Messenger SAW said like this with his hand. And my hand is shorter than his hand:* ‘There are four that will not be accepted as sacrifices: The one-eyed animal that is obviously blind in one eye; the sick animal that is obviously sick; the lame animal with an obvious limp; and the animal that is so emaciated that it is as if there is no marrow in its bones.’” He said:“And I dislike that the animal should have some fault in its ears.” He said: “What you dislike, forget about it and do not make it forbidden to anyone.” [Ibn e Majah 3144]

Hadith no.4

“The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sacrificed two rams on the Day of ‘Eid. When he turned them to face towards the prayer direction he said: ‘Verily, I have turned my face towards Him Who has created the heavens and the earth, as a monotheist, and I am not of the polytheists. Verily, my prayer, my sacrifice, my living, and my dying are for Allah, the Lord of all that exists. He has no partner. And of this, I have been commanded, and I am the first of the Muslims. [6:79,162-163](Verse 162-163 of Surah Al-Anam)O Allah, from You to You, on behalf of Muhammad and his nation.’” [ Ibn Majah 3121]
