Hadith stating that different regions may observe the crescent moon at varying times resulting in different beginnings and endings of months

Kuraib reported that Umm Fadl, daughter of Harith, sent him (Fadl, i.e. her son) to Mu'awiya in Syria. I (Fadl) arrived in Syria, and did the needful for her. It was there in Syria that the month of Ramadan commenced. I saw the new moon (of Ramadan) on Friday. I then came back to Medina at the end of the month. Abdullah b. 'Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) asked me (about the new moon of Ramadan) and said:

When did you see it? I said: We saw it on the night of Friday. He said: (Did) you see it yourself? I said: Yes, and the people also saw it and they fasted and Mu'awiya also fasted, whereupon he said: But we saw it on Saturday night. So we will continue to fast till we complete thirty (fasts) or we see it (the new moon of Shawwal). I said: Is the sighting of the moon by Mu'awiya not valid for you? He said: No; this is how the Messenger of Allah PBUH has commanded us. Yahya b. Yahya was in doubt (whether the word used in the narration by Kuraib) was Naktafi or Taktafi. [Sahih Muslim 1087]

Allah's Messenger PBUH enjoined the payment of one Sa' of dates or one Sa of barley as Zakat-ul-Fitr on every Muslim slave or free, male or female, young or old, and he ordered that it be paid before the people went out to offer the `Id prayer. (One Sa = 3 Kilograms approx.) [Sahih al-Bukhari 1503]

Hadith  regarding Sunnah to eat dates on day of Eid-al-Fitr

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

Allah's Messenger PBUH never proceeded (for the prayer) on the Day of `Id-ul-Fitr unless he had eaten some dates. Anas also narrated: The Prophet PBUH used to eat odd number of dates. [Sahih al-Bukhari 953]

Hadith no.236

Hadith no.236

Sahih Hadith regarding Prohibition of Leasing Land in return for some portion of yield produced on it

It was narrated that Rafi bin Khadij said:

"We used to lease land on the basis of Al-Muhaqalah during the time of the Messenger of Allah." He said that one of his paternal uncles came to them and said: "The Messenger of Allah has forbidden me to do something that was beneficial for us, but obedience to Allah and His Messenger is more beneficial." We said: "What is that?" He said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever has land, let him cultivate it (himself) or give it to his brother to cultivate, and not lease it in return for one-third or one-quarter of the yield nor a specified amount of food (produce).'" Moon doesn't have its own Light

In this blog, I have written about the verse of the Quran in which Allah has told us that the Moon doesn't have its own light but it just reflects the light of the Sun.

Surah Al-Furqan Verse 61

"Blessed is the One Who has placed constellations in the sky, as well as a ˹radiant˺ lamp (Sun) and a luminous moon."

Explanation

In this verse of the Quran, Allah has clearly mentioned that it is the Sun which has its own light, whereas the Moon reflects the Light of the Sun or is illuminated by the light of the Sun. We discovered this fact just recently while it was mentioned in the Quran 1400 years ago at a time when science didn't have the expertise to discover these facts, so there is no way that people at that time could ever know this. The only possibility is that the creator of this universe told them in the Quran and that creator is Allah SWT. It also proves the Quran is the word of Allah sent to us for our guidance.

Hadith regarding what one says upon seeing the Crescent moon

From his father, from his grandfather Talhah bin `Ubaidullah that when the Prophet SAW would see a crescent moon, he would say: “O Allah, bring it over us with blessing and faith, and security and Islam. My Lord and your Lord is Allah (Allāhumma ahlilhu `alainā bil-yumni wal-Īmān, was-salāmati wal-Islām, rabbī wa rabbuk Allāh).” [Al-Tirmidhi 3451]

An ally of Bani Zuhra who took part in the battle of Badr with the Prophet, that he said, "O Allah's Apostle! If I meet an unbeliever and we have a fight, and he strikes my hand with the sword and cuts it off, and then takes refuge from me under a tree, and says, 'I have surrendered to Allah (i.e. embraced Islam),' may I kill him after he has said so?" Allah's Messenger SAW said, "Do not kill him." Al- Miqdad said, "But O Allah's Messenger SAW ! He had chopped off one of my hands and he said that after he had cut it off. May I kill him?" The Prophet SAW said. "Do not kill him for if you kill him, he would be in the position in which you had been before you kill him, and you would be in the position in which he was before he said the sentence." The Prophet SAW also said to Al-Miqdad, "If a faithful believer conceals his faith (Islam) from the disbelievers, and then when he declares his Islam, you kill him, (you will be sinful). Remember that you were also concealing your faith (Islam) at Mecca before." [Bukhari 6865]
