Hadith no.233
Hadith stating that different regions may observe the crescent moon at varying times resulting in different beginnings and endings of months
Kuraib reported that Umm Fadl, daughter of Harith, sent him (Fadl, i.e. her son) to Mu'awiya in Syria. I (Fadl) arrived in Syria, and did the needful for her. It was there in Syria that the month of Ramadan commenced. I saw the new moon (of Ramadan) on Friday. I then came back to Medina at the end of the month. Abdullah b. 'Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) asked me (about the new moon of Ramadan) and said:
When did you see it? I said: We saw it on the night of Friday. He said: (Did) you see it yourself? I said: Yes, and the people also saw it and they fasted and Mu'awiya also fasted, whereupon he said: But we saw it on Saturday night. So we will continue to fast till we complete thirty (fasts) or we see it (the new moon of Shawwal). I said: Is the sighting of the moon by Mu'awiya not valid for you? He said: No; this is how the Messenger of Allah PBUH has commanded us. Yahya b. Yahya was in doubt (whether the word used in the narration by Kuraib) was Naktafi or Taktafi. [Sahih Muslim 1087]
Hadith no.234
Hadith regarding Zakat-al-Fitr
Narrated Ibn Umar:
Allah's Messenger PBUH enjoined the payment of one Sa' of dates or one Sa of barley as Zakat-ul-Fitr on every Muslim slave or free, male or female, young or old, and he ordered that it be paid before the people went out to offer the `Id prayer. (One Sa = 3 Kilograms approx.) [Sahih al-Bukhari 1503]
Hadith no.235
Hadith regarding Sunnah to eat dates on day of Eid-al-Fitr
Narrated Anas bin Malik:
Allah's Messenger PBUH never proceeded (for the prayer) on the Day of `Id-ul-Fitr unless he had eaten some dates. Anas also narrated: The Prophet PBUH used to eat odd number of dates. [Sahih al-Bukhari 953]
Hadith no.236
Hadith regarding Giving Khutbah after Eid Prayer
Narrated Abdullah bin `Umar:
Allah's Messenger PBUH used to offer the prayer of EId-ul-Adha and Eid-ul-Fitr and then deliver the Khutba after the prayer. [Sahih al-Bukhari 957]
Hadith no.236
Sahih Hadith regarding Prohibition of Leasing Land in return for some portion of yield produced on it
It was narrated that Rafi bin Khadij said:
"We used to lease land on the basis of Al-Muhaqalah during the time of the Messenger of Allah." He said that one of his paternal uncles came to them and said: "The Messenger of Allah has forbidden me to do something that was beneficial for us, but obedience to Allah and His Messenger is more beneficial." We said: "What is that?" He said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever has land, let him cultivate it (himself) or give it to his brother to cultivate, and not lease it in return for one-third or one-quarter of the yield nor a specified amount of food (produce).'" [Sunan Nasai 3897]
Hadith no.237
Hadith regarding Supplicating to Allah on Friday
Abu Huraira reported Abu'l-Qasim (the kunya of the Holy Prophet) PBUH as saying:
There is a time on Friday at which no Muslim would stand and pray and beg Allah for what Is good but He would give it to him; and he pointed with his hand that (this time) is short and narrow. [Sahih Muslim 852]
