"Do not wish to be like anyone except in two cases. (The first is) is a person, whom Allah has given wealth and he spends it righteously; (the second is the one whom Allah has given wisdom (The Holy Quran) and he acts according to it and teaches it to others." [Bukhari 73]

Six Major Problems Faced by the Muslim Ummah in the Modern Era

6 Sahih Hadith of Prophet Muhammad SAW regarding perfroming Hajj. How Muslims can use Hajj as an opportunity to solve there problems?

In this blog, I have written 6 Sahih Hadith of Prophet Muhammad SAW regarding performing Hajj, and I have also written how Muslims can use Hajj as an opportunity to solve their problems.

Hadith no.1

"Do not put on a shirt or a turban, or trousers or a cap, or leather stockings except one who does not find shoes; he may put on stockings but he should trim them below the ankles. And do not wear clothes to which saffron or wars is applied. [Sahih Muslim 1177]"

Hadith no.2

The Prophet SAW was asked, "Which is the best deed?" He said, "To believe in Allah and His Apostle." He was then asked, "Which is the next (in goodness)?" He said, "To participate in Jihad in Allah's Cause." He was then asked, "Which is the next?" He said, "To perform Hajj-Mabrur. " [Sahih Bukari 1519]

Hadith no.3

Ai’shah (May Allah be pleased with her) wife the Prophet Muhammad SAW narrated we went out with the Messenger of Allah SAW at the farewell pilgrimage Some of us had put on Ihram for `Umrah and some both for Hajj and `Umrah, when the Messenger of Allah SAW had put on Ihram for Hajj only.He who had put on Ihram for 'Umrah, put off Ihram after performing `Umrah and he who had worn Ihram both for Hajj and `Umrah or only for Hajj did not take it off till the 10th (of the month). [Sunan Abi Dawud 1779]

Hadith no.4

“Whoever performs Hajj to this House and does not have sexual relations nor commit any disobedience will go back like the day his mother bore him.” [Ibn Majah 2889]

Hadith no.5

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'From one 'Umrah to another is an expiation (reparation) for what comes in between, and Hajj al-Mabrur brings no reward less than Paradise." [Sunan Nasai 2630]

Hadith no.6

"The Prophet would stone on the Day of An-Nahr during the morning light, as for (the days) afterwards, then (he would do it) after the Zenith of the sun."[Al-Tirmidhi 894]

How can Muslims use Hajj as an opportunity to solve their problems?

Congratulations to all those Muslim brothers and sisters performing Hajj this year. May Allah accept your Hajj. In your prayers, don't forget the suffering of your Muslim brothers and sisters, especially the Palestinians. You are among those people who were granted a chance by Allah to visit his house. If we think of Hajj, then it has great significance beyond just performing certain rituals. It is a gathering of over 20 million pilgrims from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and different parts of the world. This should be taken as an opportunity to strengthen the brotherhood among Muslims. We as Muslims should use this opportunity to mobilize ourselves and solve the problems faced by the Muslim Ummah. This should be used as an opportunity to exchange ideas to resolve the challenges faced by the Ummah. We should seek help only from Allah Almighty. We should mobilize ourselves and our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters against any problem at hand faced by the Muslim world. Each pilgrim should take this opportunity to contribute to solving major challenges faced by Muslim Ummah. They should exchange ideas among themselves for the possible solutions to problems the Ummah is facing at the moment. Hajj is one of the most important pillars of Islam but resolving the problems faced by your Muslim brothers and sisters is also important. As all Muslims are brothers regardless of there ethnicities so they should exchange there personal details like phone numbers or Facebook ID etc. to keep in contact with one another so that we can help our brothers as much as we can. They can share there thoughts or views on the constantly evolving situation of the world and its impact on the Muslim Ummah. If this happens we would get closer to one another and our brotherly bond would be a force that no one would dare to recon with. We can use this power to create strong narrative on social media just like West does and we could compete against there false narrative in a much better way.

For example, today, one of the biggest problem faced by the Ummah is the Palestinian issue. Just think what this gathering of over 2 million pilgrims can do for the Palestinian cause. They can raise  awareness among themselves on this issue, and they can also exchange ideas and ways to urge the leaders of the Muslim Ummah to take some concrete steps for the Palestinians rather than just making statements. When these pilgrims go back to their respective countries, they can create awareness among their people. They can make the governments of their respective countries realize that issuing statements against Israel won't help Palestinians as much. Just see how much West is supporting Israel, and if we compare the support of Muslim countries for Palestinians, then our support is not even 10 percent of their support for Israel. Just think how much impact it will have not only on the Muslim world but on the rest of the world, too. It would help us to solve not only the Palestinian issue but all major challenges faced by Ummah such as poverty, sectarian violence, lack of education, islamophobia etc. It will give a message to the enemies of Islam that despite some differences, we Muslims are still united against all odds as one strong nation united by the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Hadith regarding being nice to women

Allah's Apostle said, "Treat women nicely, for a woman is created from a rib, and the most curved portion of the rib is its upper portion, so, if you should try to straighten it, it will break, but if you leave it as it is, it will remain crooked. So treat women nicely." [Bukhari 3331]

Hadith regarding living in this world

“The Prophet SAW lay down on a reed mat, and it left marks on his skin. I said: ‘May my father and mother be ransomed for you, O Messenger of Allah! If you had told us we would have provided you with something that would save you this trouble.’ The Messenger of Allah SAW said: ‘What is there between myself and the world? This world and I are just like a rider who stops to rest beneath the shade of a tree then goes and leaves it.’” [Ibn Majah 4109]

Hadith Regarding Dajjal(Anti-Christ)

The Messenger of Allah SAW said, "There will be no land which will not be trampled by Dajjal (the Antichrist) but Makkah and Al-Madinah; and there will be no passage leading to them which will not be guarded by the angels, arranged in rows. Dajjal will appear in a barren place adjacent to Madinah, and the city will be shaken three times. Allah will expel from it every disbeliever and hypocrite." [Riyad us Saliheen 1811]

One of them is greater than the other: The Book of Allah is a rope extended from the sky to the earth, and my family - the people of my house - and they shall not split until they meet at the Hawd, so look at how you deal with them after me." [Al Tirmidhi 3788]

Mention of atoms in the Quran

In this blog, I have written about some of the verses of the Quran which tell us about the existence of atoms.

Visit Dar-us-Salam.com for all your Islamic shopping needs!

English Translation of Verse 7 of Surah Az-zalzala

So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it.

English Translation of Verse 8 of Surah Az-zalzala

And whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.

Explanation

These are only some of the verses of the Holy Quran which precisely describe the existence of atoms when science at the time was not even familiar with the concept of atoms. The atomic theory was developed in the 19th century, and it kept on evolving to what we know today that

"Atom is the smallest particle of matter that takes part in a chemical reaction."

Atom consists of subatomic particles as well like electrons, protons, neutrons, quarks and anti-quarks. If you read the first verse written above you could see that it is written 'Not ˹even˺ an atom’s weight is hidden from your Lord on earth or in heaven; nor anything smaller or larger than that'. This part of the verse not only tells us about the existence of particles smaller than atoms (subatomic particles) but also tells about particles larger than atoms which could mean molecules and other forms of matter which we see in our surroundings but only Allah knows best. These verses leave us with no doubt that the Quran is the book of Allah sent to the Prophet Muhammad SAW for our guidance and it also contains accurate scientific facts for people of wisdom and knowledge so they can ponder upon Allah Almighty's greatness.

Moon doesn't have its own Light

In this blog, I have written about the verse of the Quran in which Allah has told us that the Moon doesn't have its own light but it just reflects the light of the Sun.

Surah Al-Furqan Verse 61

"Blessed is the One Who has placed constellations in the sky, as well as a ˹radiant˺ lamp (Sun) and a luminous moon."

Explanation

In this verse of the Quran, Allah has clearly mentioned that it is the Sun which has its own light, whereas the Moon reflects the Light of the Sun or is illuminated by the light of the Sun. We discovered this fact just recently while it was mentioned in the Quran 1400 years ago at a time when science didn't have the expertise to discover these facts, so there is no way that people at that time could ever know this. The only possibility is that the creator of this universe told them in the Quran and that creator is Allah SWT. It also proves the Quran is the word of Allah sent to us for our guidance.

Hadith Regarding Raising Hands before Bowing and after Bowing during Prayers(Rafa Yadain)

Abdullah ibn Umar reported that

I saw Allah's Messenger SAW opening the prayer with the Takbir and raising his hands to the level of his shoulders at the time of saying the Takbir, and on saying the Takbir for bowing he did the same; and when he said, "Sami`a l-lahu liman hamidah ", he did the same and then said, "Rabbana wa laka lhamd." But he did not do the same on prostrating and on lifting the head from it." [Sahih Bukhari 738]

Hadith regarding Door of Paradise for those who observe Fasting

The Prophet SAW said, "There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. Hadith regarding Fasting in Ramadan, Hadith Regarding paying Zakat, Hadith no.1 Regarding Night of Qadr, Hadith no.2 Regarding Night of Qadr, Hadith Regarding the Signs of the Hour, Hadith Regarding Two Denizens of Hell who Prophet Muhammad SAW didn't see

In this blog, I have written about Hadith regarding Fasting in Ramadan, Hadith Regarding paying Zakat, Hadith no.1 Regarding the Night of Qadr, Hadith no.2 Regarding the Night of Qadr, Hadith Regarding the Signs of the Hour, Hadith Regarding Two Denizens of Hell who Prophet Muhammad SAW didn't see.

Hadith regarding Fasting in Ramadan

A bedouin with unkempt hair came to Allah's Messenger SAW and said, "O Allah's Messenger SAW! Inform me what Allah has made compulsory for me as regards the prayers." He replied: "You have to offer perfectly the five compulsory prayers in a day and night (24 hours), unless you want to pray Nawafil." The bedouin further asked, "Inform me what Allah has made compulsory for me as regards fasting." He replied, "You have to fast during the whole month of Ramadan, unless you want to fast more as Nawafil." The bedouin further asked, "Tell me how much Zakat Allah has enjoined on me." Thus, Allah's Messenger SAW informed him about all the rules (i.e. fundamentals) of Islam. The bedouin then said, "By Him Who has honored you, I will neither perform any Nawafil nor will I decrease what Allah has enjoined on me. Allah's Messenger SAW said, "If he is saying the truth, he will succeed (or he will be granted Paradise). [Sahih al-Bukhari 1891]

Hadith Regarding paying Zakat

A man said to the Prophet SAW "Tell me of such a deed as will make me enter Paradise." The people said, "What is the matter with him? What is the matter with him?" The Prophet SAW said, "He has something to ask. (What he needs greatly) The Prophet SAW said: (In order to enter Paradise) you should worship Allah and do not ascribe any partners to Him, offer prayer perfectly, pay the Zakat, and keep good relations with your Kith and kin." [Sahih Bukhari 1396]

Hadith no.1 Regarding Night of Qadr

The Prophet SAW said, "Whoever fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith (i.e. belief) and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven, and whoever stood for the prayers in the night of Qadr out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven ."[Sahih Bukhari 2014]

Hadith no.2 Regarding Night of Qadr

The Prophet SAW said, "Look for the Night of Qadr in the last ten nights of Ramadan,' on the night when nine or seven or five nights remain out of the last ten nights of Ramadan (i.e. 21, 23, 25, respectively). [Sahih Bukhari 2021]

Hadith Regarding the Signs of the Hour

"The Prophet SAW looked out at us from a room, when we were talking about the Hour. He said: 'The Hour will not begin until there are ten signs: Dajjal, (False Christ), the smoke, and the rising of the sun from the west.'" [Ibn Majah 4041]

Hadith Regarding Two Denizens of Hell who Prophet Muhammad SAW didn't see

Two are the types of denizens of Hell whom I did not see: people having flogs like the tails of the ox with them and they would be beating people, and the women who would be dressed but appear to be naked, who would be inclined (to evil) and make their husbands incline towards it. Their heads would be like the humps of the bukht camel inclined to one side. They will not enter Paradise, and they would not smell its odor, whereas its odor would be smelt from such and such distance. [Sahih Muslim 2128]

Real Significance of Ramadan which Muslims as Ummah should focus on

Real Significance of Ramadan which Muslims as Ummah should focus on

In this article, I have written about the real significance of Ramadan, which Muslims as Ummah should focus on. As you all know this is the Holy month of Ramadan. The month in which the Quran was sent down from heaven for the guidance of mankind to the right path.

"Ramadan is the month in which the Quran was revealed as a guide for humanity with clear proofs of guidance and the decisive authority. So whoever is present this month, let them fast. But whoever is ill or on a journey, then ˹let them fast˺ an equal number of days ˹after Ramaḍân˺. Allah intends ease for you, not hardship, so that you may complete the prescribed period and proclaim the greatness of Allah for guiding you, and perhaps you will be grateful." [Surah Al Baqarah Verse no.185]

In this month Muslims observe fasting and spend additional time worshipping Allah Almighty. Adult and Healthy Muslims observe fasting in which they don't eat or drink from dawn to sunset. Fasting is one of the Five pillars of Islam. Muslims do all this to get closer to Allah Almighty and to strengthen themselves spiritually. It increases their Taqwa, which is the soul's immune system against spiritual diseases. It also teaches Muslims discipline and tells them how to endure hunger in case they have nothing to eat or drink. It also tells them about the suffering those people have to undergo who are poor and don't have much to eat. Muslims also repent from all the bad deeds they have done throughout their lives.

The reason why I am writing this blog is to highlight a key significance of Ramadan, which we Muslims tend to forget is that we, as Ummah and as Muslims, are not holding ourselves accountable for the sufferings the Ummah is facing right now. We all know that the Ummah as a whole is in a very bad situation. In particular the regions like Palestine, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Syria, Libya etc. Have we ever asked ourselves the question, why is the Ummah suffering so much? Why is there so much misery in many Muslim-majority regions of the world? Why is there so much violence, widespread poverty, and chaos in many Muslim-majority regions of the world? Why we, as Muslim ummah are, so weak even though there are about 57 Muslim-majority states in the world?

We, as Ummah, need to ask ourselves all these questions. We need to get answers to these questions. We need to ask ourselves these questions despite the fact there are about 1.8 Billion Muslims in the world and despite the fact that we have the best resources (Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad PBUH) available for our guidance and for our success in this life and in the life hereafter but still Muslims are weak and are in a very miserable situation. We need to know that the reason we, as a Ummah, are suffering is due to our own deeds.

"Corruption has spread on land and sea as a result of what people’s hands have done so that Allah may cause them to taste the consequences of˺ some of their deeds and perhaps they might return to the Right Path." [Surah al-Rum Verse no.41]

We need to know that this world is a test for us, but unfortunately, we, as individual Muslims and as ammah, are failing this test.

"We will certainly test you with a touch of fear and famine and loss of property, life, and crops. Give good news to those who patiently endure." [Surah al-Baqarah Verse no.155]

“The greatest reward comes with the greatest trial. When Allah loves a people He tests them. Whoever accepts that wins His pleasure but whoever is discontent with that earns His wrath.” [Sunan ibn Majah Hadith no.4031]

Visit Dar-us-Salam.com for all your Islamic shopping needs!

We as individuals know ourselves better that we are failing or passing this test, but no one can deny the fact that we, as Ummah, are failing it. Now the question arises what do we need to do to pass this test? As Ummah and as individuals we need to hold ourselves accountable. We need to know that the sufferings we are facing are a result of our own deeds. We, as Ummah, need to eradicate these deeds from within ourselves. The month of Ramadan is the best time to do it. Apart from seeking forgiveness from Allah Almighty, we, as Ummah, need to eradicate all the causes of our sufferings.

We need to know our history. We should not forget the fact that Muslims dominated the world for about 1000 years in the fields of science, technology, warfare, economy, education, medicine, etc. We need to know how Muslims became so powerful and dominated the world in almost every field and how it ended up like this today, there is so much chaos in the Ummah. We need to learn from our forefathers what sort of character they had that Muslims were superpowers for so many centuries. We also need to learn from their mistakes, which they did as a result of which we lost that status, and not repeat these mistakes again. Most important of all, we need to study the Character of Prophet Muhammad PBUH, the rightly guided Ahlul-bait, the Sahaba, the 5 rightly guided Caliphs, Tabiyeen, and the Taba Tabiyeen. We need to try our best to imitate their character within ourselves, and the month of Ramadan is the best time of the year to do this.

In this month of Ramadan, we Muslims as Ummah and as individuals not only need to seek the forgiveness of Allah and worship him but also know the cause of our sufferings, and we need to learn from our glorious past. We, as a Ummah, need to hold ourselves accountable for all this suffering. We need to develop the Character, bravery, piety, knowledge, discipline, patience, integrity, faith, etc. of our past heroes who dedicated their lives to the cause of Allah, but along with that, we need to learn from some of their mistakes that they did to not repeat them again.

May Allah bless you all with his blessings and mercy in this Holy month of Ramadan!

Hadith no.2

Hadith regarding what one says upon seeing the Crescent moon

From his father, from his grandfather Talhah bin `Ubaidullah that when the Prophet SAW would see a crescent moon, he would say: “O Allah, bring it over us with blessing and faith, and security and Islam. My Lord and your Lord is Allah (Allāhumma ahlilhu `alainā bil-yumni wal-Īmān, was-salāmati wal-Islām, rabbī wa rabbuk Allāh).” [Al-Tirmidhi 3451]

Hadith no.3

Hadith regarding killing a Believer intentionally

An ally of Bani Zuhra who took part in the battle of Badr with the Prophet, that he said, "O Allah's Apostle! If I meet an unbeliever and we have a fight, and he strikes my hand with the sword and cuts it off, and then takes refuge from me under a tree, and says, 'I have surrendered to Allah (i.e. embraced Islam),' may I kill him after he has said so?" Allah's Messenger SAW said, "Do not kill him." Al- Miqdad said, "But O Allah's Messenger SAW ! He had chopped off one of my hands and he said that after he had cut it off. May I kill him?" The Prophet SAW said. "Do not kill him for if you kill him, he would be in the position in which you had been before you kill him, and you would be in the position in which he was before he said the sentence." The Prophet SAW also said to Al-Miqdad, "If a faithful believer conceals his faith (Islam) from the disbelievers, and then when he declares his Islam, you kill him, (you will be sinful). Remember that you were also concealing your faith (Islam) at Mecca before." [Bukhari 6865]

Hadith regarding Saying Salam to others and Hadith Regarding Signs of a Hypocrite

In this blog, I have written Hadith regarding Saying Salam to others and Hadith Regarding Signs of a Hypocrite.

Hadith regarding Saying Salam to others

"When the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) arrived- meaning in Al-Madinah – the people came out to meet him. It was said that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) had arrived, so I went among the people to get a look at him. When I gazed upon the face of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w), I knew that this face was not the face of a liar. The first thing that he spoke about was that he said: 'O you people! Spread the Salam, feed(others), and perform Salat while the people are sleeping; you will enter Paradise with(the greeting of) Salam.'” [At-Tirmidhi 2485]

3. Whenever he makes a covenant, he proves treacherous.

4. Whenever he quarrels, he behaves in a very imprudent, evil and insulting manner." [Bukhari 34]

Is there some pain bothering you, or is it because of this world, the best of which has already passed?’ He said: ‘It is not for any of these reasons. But the Messenger of Allah SAW gave me some advice and I wish that I had followed it. He SAW said: “There may come a time when you will see wealth divided among the people, and all you will need of that is a servant and a mount to ride in the cause of Allah.” That time came, but I accumulated wealth.’” [Ibn Majah 4103]

Hadith no.2

"When the Messenger of Allah  SAW died, Fatimah sent word to Abu Bakr saying: Are you the heir of the Messenger of Allah SAW or are his family? He said: No, rather his family (are his heirs). She said: Where is the share of the Messenger of Allah SAW? Abu Bakr said: I heard the Messenger of Allah SAW say: `If Allah grants some wealth to a Prophet, then takes his soul. He grants it to the one who took charge after him.` So I have decided to give the benefit of it to the Muslims. She said: That is fine, and you know best what you heard from the Messenger of Allah SAW. Muhaqalah" [Masnad Ahmad 14]
